TADIOTO header image 3

Tadioto at 24b Tông Đản Street, Hà Nội

Tadioto started in 2008 as an alternative space for the arts where we held exhibitions, art talks, workshops, and art related events.   We also run an artists’ residency program (in collaboration with DVAN, the Diasporic Vietnamese Artists Network)  in Tam Dao, north of Ha Noi.

Our facility in Ha Noi is at 24b Tông Đản, near the Opera House and the Metropole Hotel.  We continue to welcome local artists , architects, filmmakers, etc, along with expatriates from  living and working in Hanoi. While we no longer have the space to conduct large conferences and workshops, we have occasional exchanges and cultural activities such as small concerts and readings.

In the past Tadioto was proud to have held many workshops with professionals in the arts, including San Jose Museum Chief Curator JoAnne Northrup, performance artists Kim Ngoc, Nguyen Manh Hung, Tran Luong, Nguyen Minh Phuoc, American writer Wayne Karlin, installation artist Kathy Koller, Italian writers Paolo Giordano & Beppe Severgnini, video artist Sander Leemans, film producer Roger Garcia, and art historian Nora Taylor.  Since our opening at the end of 2008, we have held exhibitions for Nguyen Van Cuong, Thai Bui, Han Nguyen, Do Hoang Tuong, and sculptural works by Nguyen Thuy Hang.

Tadioto attracted many with its programs of music performances,  literary readings, and special events.

    Anh Duc oi –

Sorry I missed you in Hanoi, it was too cold to come out and black lung had set in… I couldn’t wait to reach Danang but even there the cold and rain had followed. I hope you are well in your new home.

    Hi Duc,

I emailed you but wanted to be sure you got this message so I’m posting it on your blog as well. My name is Kara and I’m a friend of Tan Doan’s. I am traveling around South East Asia for the next 3 and a half weeks. We’re going to be in Hanoi Monday, April 28th, the 30th and May 4th. It would be great to meet up with you on any of these days. I would also love to come and see your design shop. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Salut Duc… mon ami, ça fait déjà un bout de temps, non? Je serai à San-Francisco cet été et j’aurai voulu t’y rencontrer mais je ne suis pas sur que tu habites encore en Californie. Let me know! Si tu peux, laisse-moi une adresse e-mail à laquelle je peux te joindre plus facilement. Daniel

The new place looks nice! I heard you have a house in tam dao you rent out sometimes. I was wondering if we could chat about that? Can we email more about this or call or meet? Whatever you prefer. Thanks sooo much!

  • duc // Jul 11, 2014 at 10:28 am

Thanks for your message. I do occasionally rent out the house in Tam Dao. You can email me at duc@tadioto.com. Let me know how many would like to come, when, etc…
Many weekends between now and the end of August aren’t available but I will try to accommodate you as best I can.

    You are mentioned in this article;
But I cant find an entry for the bar near the Opera House on tripadvisor. Even when I search google. Are you on TripAdvisor as you have a great bar and the word needs to get out there!

  • duc // Oct 4, 2014 at 6:03 am

Thank you for your kind words. I am surprised no one has reviewed us at Trip Advisor.
Here we are on google https://www.google.com/maps/place/TadiOto+bar/@21.02567,105.857886,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xd61d0257964a42e6?sa=X&ei=ru8vVPHAOc678gXjuYHYCg&ved=0CIwBEPwSMAs
We would appreciate any kind help from you to spread the word about Tadioto.

    Hi Anh Duc,

I just finished your book, “Where the Ashes Are,” and wanted to send a note of thanks to you. It helped fill the void that has been in my heart for far too long.

  • Jerry Martin // Nov 6, 2014 at 4:32 pm

    Dear Duc:

I hope all is well in Hanoi. I know we have not been in touch in a long time. I would like to correspond directly with you regarding some 1960’s paintings. Would you mind sending me an e-mail address to my address above? Thanks and regards, Jerry

  • Jerry Martin // Nov 6, 2014 at 4:32 pm

    ..Vietnames paintings, of course.

  • duc // Nov 6, 2014 at 6:30 pm

Thank you so much. It’s the story of so many Vietnamese.
